Oji Fibre Solutions to Build New Plant in Australia (1/25/2017)

According to a report by Good Fruits and Vegetables (Queensland, Australia) this week, a new player in the Australian corrugated fiber packaging market will set up shop in Queensland. Oji Fibre Solutions has announced its intentions to develop a new paper-based packaging facility at Yatala, housed within a Green Star rated building, and will initially employ about 50 people.The new facility will manufacture and supply corrugated packaging products to end use markets throughout Queensland, northern NSW, and the Northern Territory.

Two New Toscotec Tissue Machines Delivered to Vinda Paper in China (1/23/2017)

Last month (December 2016) the Italian supplier Toscotec S.p.A. delivered two tissue machines, TM 3 and TM 4, to Vinda Paper (Zhejiang, China) to be installed at its Longyou mill. The machines are scheduled to begin installation in the spring and complete startup in mid-2017.

BillerudKorsnäs Orders 550,000 TPY Voith Board Machine for Gruvön Mill (1/09/2017)

BillerudKorsnäs, Sweden, has awarded Voith, Germany, an order for a fully equipped XcelLine board machine. The machine, with a design speed of 1,200 m/min producing liquid packaging board, carton board, food service board, and white kraft liner, will be one of the largest board machines of its kind.

Explosion Rocks IP’s Cantonment, Fla., Mill (1/23/2017)

This past Sunday (Jan. 22, 2017) the International Paper lightweight containerboard and specialty fluff pulp mill in Cantonment, Fla., USA, was rocked by a pulp mill explosion that sprayed chemical pulping contents across nearby roads and property areas. All employees were accounted for with no fatalities or injuries. However, the mill experienced significant structural damage to its largest pulp digester as well as the power house.

CMPC to Pay $150 Million Fine in Tissue Collusion Case (1/30/2017)

Stora Enso Reconsiders Plans to Build Chemical Pulp Mill in Beihai, China (1/24/2017)

Stora Enso, Helsinki, Finland, has initiated a process with the Government of Guangxi, China, with the goal of removing the authorization for a hardwood chemical pulp mill from its investment permit. Stora Enso had previously announced that it was considering building a chemical pulp mill at its Beihai Mill site, once the mill’s new consumer board machine is up and running. The final decision is still subject to the decision of Stora Enso’s Board of Directors.

Lee & Man Starts up Four Tissue Lines within Three Months (1/31/2017)

The new lines, designed for production of high quality tissue products with low energy consumption, were all producing sellable paper from the start.
